KAREN DE LOS REYES

Karen de los Reyes first began her professional career as an actress, piquing our interest initially as her unforgettable turn as a loving granddaughter to her semi-amnesiac (alzheimer) grandfather in a McDonald's commercial back in 2001, uttering the memorable tagline, "Karen po."
The daughter of marine engineer father, Romeo, and retired accountant mother, Milagros, Karen's foray into showbiz and acting soon brought her into the halls of GMA 7, for which she became a contract star in 2002. Starring in such shows as CLICK, ANG IIBIGIN AY IKAW, NARITO ANG PUSO KO, MULAWIN, LOVE2LOVE AND DARNA, to name a few. As of late, she counts PATI BA PINTIG NG PUSO, LA VENDETTA, ZAIDO, CODENAME: ASERO and STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN as her more recent stints.

It was a few years ago that she noticed her acting mettle notwithstanding, that it was behind the scenes that she found herself spending most of her time in between takes, hanging out with the crew and observing directors. It was then that she realized she wanted to be a director and find out what it took to see the world from behind the lens, and so she subsequently took photography classes and pulled up her sleeves. Beginning with a borrowed camera and laptop and no-budget shoots, only being able to afford her DSLR camera through her showbiz talent fees. Fellow actors, models and actresses have graced her portfolio, counting among them are Alessandra de Rossi, Assunta de Rossi, Ryan Eigenmann, Arci Munoz, Chynna Ortaleza, Oyo Sotto, Pinky Amador, Kat Agarrado, Katrina Halili, Gina Alajar, Michael de Mesa, Rhian Ramos, Glaiza de Castro, Amy Strawford, Lou Sison and Sanya Smith.

While not as seasoned as her mentor Lore Reyes, Karen's drive as a photographer stems from a piece of wisdom given to her by a former professor that she has never forgotten: "wala sa pana, nasa kumakana", and it is through this perspective that her eye and hunger for photography has flourished.
